Our People

David Reznik
Founder, President & Director of R&D, Raztek

During the last decade, David has developed and refined several innovative technologies,  the latest of which has been Electroheating™. David has proven Electroheating™ to be a viable technology and he has managed the implementation of three generations of this technology since it was introduced in 1987. The first generation of Electroheating™ technology was implemented at Papetti’s Hygrade Egg Products, Inc. Today, Electroheating™ technology continues to provide breakthrough solutions for the food and biotech industries. David actively publishes articles on Raztek’s technology and has been a speaker at several recent industry events.

Five years prior to the inception of Raztek, David established and operated the Technical Research Center division of Tri Valley Growers in California, one of the world’s largest can making and food canning operations at the time. The Technical Research Center’s charter was to develop and implement new technologies for canning and can making. The Technical Research Center was eventually transformed into Raztek Corporation in 1987.

David holds a BS degree in Chemical Engineering (1960) and an MS in Food Science and Engineering (1963), both awarded by the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (Technion is the Israeli equivalent of MIT). After his academic endeavors, David began a distinguished career in the metal packaging and food processing fields in 1967. David formed his own R&D company in Israel in 1973, and ultimately undertook the project with Tri Valley Growers in 1982.

Steven Criswell
Technical Manager, Raztek

Steven has been with Raztek from the beginning, previously working as an R&D engineer at Tri Valley Growers. Steven has made significant contributions at Raztek in the areas of Electroheating™ technology, can quality, and engineering new processes and equipment (Raz, Convac, Atmocure, and hot fill of sliced peaches). Steven has been involved with the food producing and processing industry throughout his life. Having grown up in a farming community in the Central Valley, Steven brings a strong mechanical aptitude, dedication to research and development, and a keen sense of the agriculture industry.

Steven earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State, Sacramento in 1984.

Shai Nitzan
Food Technologist, Raztek

Shai joined Raztek in 1996, and since that time, has been Raztek’s primary microbiologist and lead lab technician. Shai has been instrumental in developing the computer control system for Electroheating™, which was initially a completely manual system.

Prior to joining Raztek, Shai worked as a food technologist for a leading meat processing factory and well-known fast food chain in Israel.

Shai earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Food and Biotechnology from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in 1993. While earning his degree, Shai also studied software engineering at IBM.

Ely Dembo
System Engineer

Ely has served as Raztek's system engineer since 1997. Ely's thorough and broad knowledge and experience in all aspects of technology, enables Raztek to provide computer controlled machinery. From 1979 to 1988 he served as the vice president of software at 3D computer company in Israel. In 1965 Ely founded Technomatic, a design and manufacturing company of automatic production machinery for a wide range of industries. Ely is a Technion Graduate in Electrical engineering (1960).

Walter Goldstein
Market Development

Walter, a business development consultant, lends his great experience to creating new markets for Raztek in the pharmaceutical and biological product areas. He arranges for David Reznik to present his technologies to key players in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry.

Prior to his current consulting business, Walter served as the Vice President/Director of Research at ESCAgenetics Corporation, San Carlos, California. He was also Vice President of R&D at Bayer (Miles) at their Biotechnology Group in Elkhart, Indiana, where he headed product development and led the research to produce ethanol from ground corn.

Walter earned his PhD and MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and his BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He holds an MBA from Michigan State University.

Gad Shelef
Mechanical design

As the sole owner of Gizmonics, a mechanical consulting and design firm, Gad applies his vast experience in mechanical design to the development of industrial, consumer and aeronautics products. In this capacity, Gad provides mechanical design for Raztek's technologies. He also serves as an R&D engineer at Stanford University, Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Robotics Laboratory. Prior to these contributions, his distinguished leadership of engineering projects for the Ministry of Defense in Israel has earned him a special award for a breakthrough in a specific, classified design.

Gad earned his MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford in 1982, where he also served as a faculty advisor for MS students' projects and as a part-time research assistant, designing experimental systems including Flexible Arm, 4-Disk system and 2-Link Arm. Gad also designed mechanisms and structures for Britten-Norman's Islander and Trislander aircraft at the Bembridge Airport in England. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
